About Me

My photo
I take pictures of things. Mostly with film. Mostly with cameras. I am an engineer by trade. What really makes me happy, though, is to find an old camera at a swap meet or antique store and bring it back into working order with a few hours at the workbench. I then like to take them out and shoot some film. This blog is in large part the result of that activity.

Nikon F3P Arista Premium 100 50mm f1.8 series e
A symbolic shot which I am posting on the eve of change.  I've left my job at Final Draft after 12 years and on Monday, I start a new job at Breakdown Services.  I still have many rolls of photos from around the Calabasas area which I'll share, spread out, but I'll soon have different subjects to photograph.  I'm looking forward to everything except the commute.

This shot is on Arista Premium 100 film from Freestyle photo.  Many say that this is rebadged Kodak Plus-X which is a 125 speed film.  I don't know if that is true but what I do know is that I like it and it is easy to get good results.  I just bought ten more rolls.

My film camera acquisition syndrome is in full swing.  Over the weekend I bought a Nikon FG from a pawn shop as well as a Nikon FM, Olympus OM1 and OM10 from KEH.  I'm looking forward to shooting with them once I get them cleaned up and re-sealed.  I spent less than the cost of a case of beer.

Well, maybe two cases.
